Matrimonial Law Attorney Joins Thrive Montclair Slate
March 13, 2008 – Joanna Brick, an experienced attorney, has joined the Thrive Montclair slate as a candidate for Third Ward Councilor.
Brick is a senior attorney at Simon & Enright in Morris Plains, N.J., with a focus on matrimonial issues in domestic proceedings. She also has expertise in real estate, financing and environmental law, which will bring substantial benefit to the residents of Montclair.
“Joanna’s experience is the perfect complement to a slate of dedicated professionals committed to changing Montclair for the better and securing its financial future for decades to come,” says Councilor at Large Ted Mattox, Thrive Montclair’s candidate for Mayor. “We are excited that she has chosen to join our team and lend her well rounded expertise to the residents of our town.”
Brick is hoping to instill more confidence in Montclair’s municipal government and to revitalize the enthusiasm and pride in our town. “I am eager to work hard as a member of the Town Council on behalf of the needs and interests of our residents. Dedication and commitment are the best ways we can succeed.”
During her undergraduate studies, Brick was employed with Chittenden County, Vermont’s recycling department, where she assisted in implementing and publicizing Vermont’s nationally recognized recycling program. She was later employed at two large law firms where she worked on environmental asbestos litigation. During law school, she worked for the City of New York’s Administration of Children’s Services (ACS) in their abuse and neglect division, where she prosecuted parents and guardians who were not acting in the best interests of their children.
Brick received her J.D. from New York Law School and a B.S. in Environmental Studies from the University of Vermont. She is an active volunteer with Partners for Women and Justice in Montclair and with the Battered Women’s Legal Advocacy Project (BWLAP) in Morris County, N.J.
