MARK REYNOLDS
FOR SECOND WARD COUNCILOR

Mark Reynolds has called New Jersey “home” for over 20 years, and for the past 6 years he has been proud to say he is a resident of Montclair. Reynolds, and his wife Damaris, chose Montclair to raise their two daughters because of its magnet schools, ease of commute (to enjoy more time with family), urban “feel,” and, not least of all, its diverse community. Reynolds wants to work to preserve the unique feel of Montclair and is excited to apply his vast commercial and legal knowledge to Montclair’s municipal government to ensure fi scal responsibility and transparency in our local government.

Reynolds currently is Vice President and Counsel of AXIS Reinsurance Company in New York, New York, where he serves as manager of the company’s contract department and as legal counsel to the underwriting staff. Reynolds also provides legal advice to AXIS’ sister companies globally. His expertise in fi nancial contracts and insurance will be of great value to the town, particularly in light of recent service reductions and tax increases. Despite the daily drudge into New York, Reynolds wants to serve the community and feels he can well represent fellow commuters and parents who may not feel they have the time to “be involved”.

Reynolds received his Juris Doctorate from the New York Law School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Syracuse University. Reynolds has worked in the Insurance and Reinsurance industry in various capacities since graduating from Law School including asserting property damage claims on behalf of the US Government and the management of litigation and claim files. Reynolds has lectured and presented on various insurance and reinsurance related issues.

Reynolds’ wife, Damaris, is a principal of East Coast Maternity, which markets maternity apparel nationwide. They have two daughters, one in the Montclair public school system and the other at St. James Preschool. The Reynolds’ are active members in the St. Cassian parish. Reynolds is also very active in the community. As chairperson of “Watchung Dads”, a PTA group of fathers (and other caregivers) dedicated to family activities and community service, Reynolds organizes “dad/kid” outings, and coordinates “Dad” involvement in other PTA events and charitable activities. Reynolds also serves on the Board of Directors of the St. James Preschool.

When not driving the kids to soccer, swimming, ballet, gymnastics, etc., Reynolds enjoys something else that is very “New Jersey,” listening to Sinatra.
